About Gloria
I was born in Mexico. Of my father, Julian Caballero, a United States diplomat, and my mother, Maria Luisa, a warm and artistic woman, I have nothing but good memories. I married a young architect when I was 23 and we have three grown children we are lucky to have living nearby. Our three grandchildren are a daily joy. I am a writer, artist and poet. I cannot remember a time when I wasn't drawing, but the writing bug started in me when I won a novel as a prize for artistic merit in school. I have published two Regency historical novels and a short story. One of my poems is to be published in an upcoming issue of Writer's Journal. At present I am finishing my third Regency romance and I am also writing a mainstream historical novel that has taken longer because of the enormous amount of research involved. I am an optimist, so that tells a great deal about me, since I always look at the brighter side of things and I believe in the inherent goodness of human beings. When I wrote my first book it was as if I had someone looking over my shoulder saying, "Just why do you think you can write a book? Not everyone can write a book." But I overcame that and forced myself to the last page and wrote "The End" with such a tremendous feeling of accomplishment that I can still remember that moment clearly.
