Besides, Rose is attracted to Flynn, though her father and sister want her to accept the Marquess’ protection.
Jameson Flynn has goals; he plans to enter government service, if possible, and working for the Marquess of Tannerton is just a stepping stone to his life’s ambitions. When he is asked to procure the woman Flynn is attracted to as the Marquess’ mistress, he is hard pressed to follow through. Rose O’Keefe is the perfect woman for Jameson, yet how can he complete with his employer?
A fine example of Regency romance, author, Diane Gaston has once again enthralled readers with very likable characters and a beautiful love story combined. Add in a little suspense and readers are treated to a “can’t put the book down” tale from the opening. Rose is an independent woman with a strong set of beliefs; eager to help her family yet unwilling to compromise her goals in the bargain; an admirable heroine. Flynn is a real “man’s man” who is torn between his ambitions and the woman he loves; his emotional quandary was readily apparent and allowed this reader to suffer along with him. When Rose and Flynn finally come together, it is romantic and passionate in every sense. Tannerton is a very likable fellow with a sort of “spoiled brat” attitude in the beginning that eventually turns readers in his favor when he teams up with Flynn to stop a villain threatening Rose. With the author’s well researched details and vivid descriptive ability, this reader was well able to step into Regency England and form an attachment to the main characters. INNOCENCE AND IMPROPRIETY is a book I am easily able to recommend, and look forward to Tannerton’s story in future.
